Since early 2003, the Committee of 100 (C-100) has upheld its mission for its “members to collectively pool their strengths and experience to address important issues concerning the Chinese-American community” by providing mentoring events in conjunction with the Annual Conference, as well as Regional Forums. In 2005, Mentorship became a formal initiative of the organization. Chaired by Albert Yu and Milton Chang, the C-100 Mentorship Council includes Carolyn Chin, Nelson Dong, Herman Li, Jenny Ming, Carter Tseng, Savio Tung, and Jeremy Wu. Each Mentorship event provides young professionals, the next generation of our community leaders, the opportunity to interface and connect with C-100 Members who are prominent leaders in their own chosen fields and professions. Participants at each event are able to learn directly from C-100 Members as they share their own personal experiences, successes and challenges, as well as discuss issues unique to each session’s participants. “Mentoring is something all of us can do,” said Committee of 100 Former Chairman, Bob Lee. “Have you ever met anyone who could not give advice learned through experience? We all have something to offer each other. It is in that spirit that our members offer their time and wisdom to this effort.” Mentorship Chairman and C-100 Director Albert Yu said, "C-100 Members have shown their support for this initiative by enthusiastically participating in past Mentorship events. As C-100 Members continue to give of their time and energy at the events to develop and nurture future leaders in their fields, their continual commitment further strengthens this initiative." In addition to the Mentorship event included as an integral part of each C-100 Annual Conference, regional leadership forums built around a Mentorship session in major U.S. metropolitan cities on the East and West Coasts, and Greater China, may be offered throughout the year.
